Product Description
Mechanical hard drives might not be the fastest storage medium, but for bulk storage on the cheap, it is a great option. Smaller files like music and photos will still load in quickly, and if you do a lot of downloading and deleting, you may find hard drives to be a great spot for downloads so you don't end up wearing out your SSD. In general, having one for long term storage or for downloads is a good idea. While we can work with many kinds of hard drives (Seagate Ironwolf, Seahawk, and Firehawk, or WD Green, Red, Black, and Gold), we've kept the selection down to Seagate BarraCuda/Exos and Western Digital Blue HDDs. If you're looking for another drive, please let us know and we'll include it into our list here.Seagate's BarraCuda drives (as well as BarraCuda Pro) are consumer-level hard drives for everyday use. Exos hard drives are enterprise-grade, designed to be running 24/7. WD Blue is effectively Western Digital's answer to BarraCuda hard drives.
Upon purchase of this device, it will be allocated as a separate storage drive in your computer and assigned the next standard drive letter with the name "HDD". If you wish to assign a specific name, drive letter, or configure multiple purchases of a hard drive for a striped or mirrored configuration, please contact us.
While we've limited the number of drives you can purchase to 2, some cases can accomodate more. If you need more than 2 drives, please let us know.
Note: If pricing does not make sense (e.g. the 10TB Exos drive costs more than the 12TB Exos drive does), that's the market at work and we have no control over the prices. We are simply listing the prices as they appear. If you buy a hard drive and a higher capacity exists at a lower price, we will message you and ask if you want to upgrade your storage capacity and receive a small refund, since there is no reason to not increase your storage capacity if a better option is cheaper.
